The Children’s Corner Howick has partnered with Iosis to help ensure every child receives something special this Christmas.
The partnership is part of the centre’s annual Charitable Giving Commitment.
“It is really important to us as a Montessori preschool that we foster values of compassion and empathy for others and find ways we can contribute to the well-being of others,” says centre owner Diane Cornelius.
This year the centre chose to partner with Iosis, a Manurewa based organisation supporting children and families who help parents transform their family life for good.
Their goal is to give vulnerable families the opportunity to overcome challenges and change for the good of their family.
“Christmas is a stressful time of the year where child protection agencies around the country see a big increase in child abuse and crisis management cases,” Cornelius says.
“Iosis want to ensure that if a child is suddenly placed in a new home at this time, that the foster family is not caught short with nothing under the tree for this child.”
The Children’s Corner Howick invited their parent community to donate a gift for children from babies through to teenagers and they responded with generosity and kindness.
These gifts will be distributed to children this festive period.
Michele Efaraimo, Iosis Practice Manager (Fostercare) came along to collect the gifts and was delighted by the contribution made by The Children’s Corner community.
