The former headmaster of Cockle Bay Primary has died.
Kevin Peterson – a much loved teacher, father and grandfather – passed away suddenly at home on April 30. He was 94 years old.
His wife, Dawn Peterson, died on August 25, 2020 at Middlemore Hospital. The Times previously reported that Kevin took pride in the fact that between him and his wife, the two taught for a century.
“I taught for 58 years and she for 43 and together we made it 101,” he said.
He was the principal of Cockle Bay School from 1967 to 1984. He moved to Saint Kentigern College in 1984. Kevin retired at the age of 75.
The death notices say Kevin was the loving father of David and Andrew and grandfather of Emma, Laura, Cooper, Olivia and Ruben.
A service for his life will be held at All Saints Church, Howick, at 11am tomorrow.
