Botany local named accountant of the year

A Botany local has been named the accountant of the year.

Kylie Liew from Giles & Liew Chartered Accountants took home an array of awards from MYOB’s 2018 Partner Connect gala dinner held on Coronet Peak in Queenstown.

Praised for her innovative approach to providing value to her clients, Liew was named Accountant of the Year and Innovator of the Year while Giles & Liew received The Connected Practice Award.

MYOB’s annual awards celebrate the achievements of accountants and bookkeepers in areas such as service, innovation and results.

The Accountant of the Year award is presented to an exceptional accountant who has played a pivotal role in helping their practice succeed, while the Innovator of the Year is awarded to a business adviser who has driven technological transformation in a practice.

MYOB’s head of clients and partners Nick Fletcher says Ms Liew is a role model for the industry because of her future-focussed attitude and dedication to creating efficiencies for both her business and her clients.

“At a time when the accounting sector is in a state of change, Kylie is clearly leading the direction of her business and setting a high standard for the industry,” he says.

Giles & Liew’s Connected Practice Award recognises its success in delivering a “Connected Practice vision” utilising MYOB’s top online solutions to deliver a seamless workflow for the business.

“Giles & Liew has undergone significant changes over the last couple of years – rebranding, formulating new business strategies and streamlining processes by upgrading to the latest online technology. These changes have seen the practice strengthen their relationships with existing clients and receive more client leads than ever before.”

Liew says she was delighted to receive the three awards as it affirmed the hard work that she and her colleagues have put in to transform their business.

“Undertaking a huge rebranding and repositioning exercise was no easy feat, especially as Giles & Liew has been operating for over 20 years,” she says.

“We want Giles & Liew to be a vehicle for change and innovation both within the industry and our individual clients’ businesses. Keeping up with changing technology is key to this strategy and how we ensure we are helping our clients succeed.”
