Local thrift shop Charity Boutique has welcomed a new team member into the fold.
Cara Marris became the manager of the colourful and varied shop in Rices Mall almost a month ago.
Previous manager Renee Woods is managing the newly-opened the Charity Corner in Mt Roskill, the Charity Boutique’s sister-store.
Describing herself as an “op-shopping queen”, Cara says that she enjoys working with customers and volunteers and helping people.
“I really enjoy the fact it’s a charitable organisation and that they want to make people that have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome’s lives better. I find that quite inspirational.”
All profits from the Charity Boutique go toward Rest Assured Respite Charitable Trust, a support organisation providing a respite facility for primarily, but not exclusively, those with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFs) or Fibromyalgia.
“I have a positive outlook,” Cara says. “I like to see the glass half-full, not half-empty.”
Anyone wishing to donate items, or have a look around the shop, can find the Charity Boutique at Shop 5, Rices Mall, 65 Picton Street, Howick.
