克利夫顿艺术小径:庆祝艺术的辉煌

The free Clevedon Art Trail Annual Open Studio Weekend returns for its fourth year on Auckland’s Anniversary Weekend January 25-27.

There is an exciting programme planned with artists and creative establishments in the area once more opening their doors.

Art happenings, such as demonstrations, exhibitions and a variety of free interactive workshops and activities will be on offer.

There are many artistic pursuits involved including guided tours of Riverhaven Artland with artist Katie Blundell leaving at 10 am, 12noon and 2 pm each day of the of the long weekend.

The Art Industry Gallery will feature 27 established and emerging artists. Visitors can collaborate with sculptor James Wright to make a large scale artwork using recycled materials.

Helen Dorresteyn’s glasshouse studio and pottery garden will be showcasing ceramic sculptural works by local artists, The Mud Slingers.

Visitors are welcome to call into Woodzone, which has a huge range of New Zealand made woodwork. Art aficionados can view Matthew turning bowls through the viewing window into the workshop.

There will be free pop-up printmaking by Toni Mosley at the Clevedon Farmers Market at 107 Monument Rd, Clevedon while the Wild Things Creative Workshop with Elle Anderson and Jane Berney at 331 North Rd Clevedon will be held on Monday from 10.30-2.30pm. The free workshop at Riverhaven Artland is open to anyone 15 years plus with above of words and images to create fresh ideas.

Photographer Clint Schubert will host two free workshops demonstrating modelled natural light portrait photography using reflectors. At Forgotten Art Stable, 303 North Road, Clevedon. Starting Saturday only, 10-11.30am and 1.30-3 pm.

Costumier Gracie Matthews will give a demonstration on the forgotten art of creative mending to celebrate your favourite clothing by turning them into wearable art.

Visit Katie Blundell’s friendly gallery and studio to see her contemporary artwork including her new exhibition ‘Without a Shadow of Doubt’. And whilst you are at it, try your hand at making sculpture at her free interactive slot sculpture station.

Mastercraftsman chair maker Richard Hare will lead a group to create their own very special heirloom chair; while Maureen Conquer will demonstrate creative sea basket weaving from scavenged driftwood, kelp, shells, rope, fishing line, flax and grass.
