It has been an enormous privilege to serve as your MP these last three years and I am grateful to have been re-elected to continue working for Pakuranga. Thank you for your support.
The next three years are shaping up to be some of the most important in a generation as New Zealand seeks to rebuild following the economic effects of Covid-19.
Kiwis have delivered the first majority Government under MMP with Labour at the helm, and while I respect that decision, it makes my job and that of the Opposition more important and more relevant than ever before.
Being a majority Government gives them significant power, but they must use it for the benefit of all New Zealanders and have no excuses if they fail to deliver.
The Government must get it right for New Zealanders who are struggling as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and must be focused on growing our economy, retaining jobs and providing opportunities for Kiwis.
The National Party Opposition will hold the Government to account and ensure it uses its power responsibly. I am looking forward to this challenge.
There is also much to do in Pakuranga and during the campaign I outlined my priorities if re-elected. Among those remains my commitment to the on-time and on-budget delivery of the Eastern Busway and Reeves Road Flyover, a project consistently raised with me during the campaign.
On top of this, a big part of my job is to help individuals with personal issues they need assistance with, whether it’s to do with getting assistance from Government Departments like ACC or Work and Income, advocating to the Council on local issues or taking your views on policy to Wellington.
My office is highly visible and located at 120A Pakuranga Road and you can call or email us any time on 572 0000 or PakurangaMP@parliament.govt.nz if you need assistance, wish to meet with me, or just want to share your concerns about something.
Thank you again for the faith you have placed in me as your MP for Pakuranga and I look forward to working hard for you over the next few years.
- Simeon Brown, MP for Pakuranga
