From rock climbing to axe-throwing and plenty of fun and adventure activities, there was free food and spot prizes to be won at the Children’s Day Expo hosted by St Columba Presbyterian Church in Botany.
There were more than 100 kids along with their families participating in a treasure hunt where kids had to get to know different social service and community agencies to win spot prizes.
Rev Chris Barnard, minister at St Columba, said that what touched him the most is hearing a story about a young mother who had a stillborn child and struggled to cope with her four-year-old still grieving for the child they had lost.
“Talking to someone from a social service agency today helped and the young mother was very grateful that she had made this connection. It’s things like these that matter most at the end of the day, especially if it can help someone,” he said.
