William Shakespeare’s enchanting tale of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be brought to life by the youth of the Howick Children’s and Youth Theatre.
Set outdoors in the Star of the Sea park, this natural idyllic setting suits the story which follows four lovers as they run away into the forest.
Surrounded by feuding fairies, knavish sprites and a gang of working-class ‘actors’ preparing a play in secret, the story of magic and trickery unfolds.
The comedic and well-known story is set in a forest clearing that suits the outdoor setting at Star of the Sea perfectly.
Directed by Kelly Raos, the Deputy Principal of HCYT, this famous Shakespearean play brought to life under the stars.
The cast is made up of a group of 26 talented and dedicated youth ranging in age from 14-18.
Emily Rush who plays Titania says: “I have loved playing such a strong female character and I am really enjoying being part of my first Shakespeare production”.
Kurt Salter, who has been attending drama classes at HCYT for 13 years, says: “Being able to perform in an outdoor Shakespeare is one of the most amazing things he has been able to do.”
