Music, crafts and magic — it’s all happening at Uxbridge Arts & Culture next week as part of the Taste of Uxbridge next week.
From April 3-13, Uxbridge will open its doors for open studios, free workshops, artist talks and theatre events and there’s sure to be something to appeal to all ages.
Up first is a unique classical showcase evening, providing a platform for our local classical musicians to share their talents on stage. Expect a great evening of classical music from Bach to Chopin.
Following that, singer-songwriter Caitlin Smith is back with her own band and sound performing a programme of originals, a selection of songs from her ‘spiritual parents’ Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen and some beautiful original tunes that will leave you wanting more.
The artistically inclined may fancy the Pop Up Painting evening at Basalt — a couple of wines combined with your very own piece of art to take home at the end of the night — what could possibly go wrong?
If you’d rather admire somoene else’s art work than create your own, head down to check out the Gallery Sessions — a lively discussion led by Malcolm Smith Gallery’s manager curator Zoe Hoeberigs around the exhibtions.
On Sunday afternoon, learn more about Veronica Herber’s artwork — made entirely of masking tape – and add your part to a collaborative piece for the centre. For some inner zen, check out the yoga or if you’re looking to be inspired, sit on the short talk from two local creatives for some bright ideas.
To finish the week off on Friday morning, join Zoe for a discussion and tour of Scott Eady’s exhibition 1 and ALL.
Meanwhile, the young — and the young at heart — can head down to watch Mr Bubbles and his magical show of bouncy bubbles, bubbles inside bubbles, smoky bubbles, square bubbles, giant bubbles and even fire bubbles — it’s all the bubbles you can dream of and more!
Finally in the event programme, is bubbly songstress Lisa Lorrell to take you on a musical journey filled with nostalgia, fun and laughter, performing classic songs from best loved musicals and operetta, to jazz, country and pop music.
Whatever you’re into, the Taste of Uxbridge week is sure to have something to pique your interest.
