Having hosted the event for more 15 years now, the Howick Rotary Club of Fun Walk and Run had a good response despite the coronavirus scare.
The sun was shining bright on Stockade Hill as local primary and intermediate schools, and their parents turned up to participate in the fun walk and run that the Rotarians had meticulously organised.
Shelly Park Primary won the Junior cup and Somerville Intermediate were the winners of the Intermediate cup– apart from the individual adult winners.
Each participating child was awarded a medal at the finishing line.
There was a festive atmosphere with music, sausage sizzle, fresh fruits and plenty of water being served to the participants who walked around proudly with their medal in hand. All proceeds from the event will go to Howick Coastguard. Last year the Rotary Club of Howick donated $9000 to the charity.
