Wednesday February 14th is international CHD Day, or as we like to call it in New Zealand, “Little Heart Day”.
12 babies are born every week in Aotearoa with a broken heart (congenital heart disease) and a CHD is the number one cause of death for infants and newborns in NZ.
Join the thousands of kiwis who are born with a CHD, and wear red on Valentine’s Day to help raise awareness of the condition.
More than 550 major heart surgeries are performed on babies and children every year at Auckland hospital (some babies are just days old). Heart Kids is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support services to kids, teens, adults living with a childhood heart condition and their families.
Heart kid Harley Thomsen is the poster girl for this year’s Little Heart Day February 14th. ‘Show your love in a different way this Valentine’s Day’ and wear red to support children like Harley. You can also text Heart to 2427 to make a $3 donation to Heart Kids.
