Premier Men – Jeff Crowe Cup | Round 3
Howick Pakuranga 194/7 (L Winn 43*, D Young 43, D Winn 35) lost to East Coast Bays 200/5 (M Ross 73*, L Watson 41, S Langridge 31, R Schierhout 30) by five wickets. With victory over Howick Pakuranga at home, East Coast Bays picked up their first win of the summer.
It was steady as she goes for Howick Pakuranga, batting first at Windsor Park. Liam Winn (43*), Daniel Young (43) and David Winn (35) were the best of the Alpaca batters, but little came easy as a committed Bays attack stuck to their task. All six of the host’s bowlers picked up a wicket as the visitors scraped their way to 194/7 from their 50 overs.
Despite starts by Seb Langridge (31) and Ryan Schierhout (30), Bays response was a little shaky. At 95/4, the match was in the balance, only for debutant Luke Watson (41) and Michael Ross to put together an 89-run partnership to all but extinguish the Alpaca’s hopes of victory. Ross remained unbeaten when victory came in the 44th over, having hit a brisk 73 off 55 balls in a knock that included 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Howick Pakuranga 115 (S Shahri 39, F Trussler 6-22) lost to Takapuna 116/4 (A Browning 38) by six wickets.
It was a happy return to Hobsonville Domain for Takapuna, who go into the Christmas break as the only undefeated side in the Prichard Cup after a six-wicket win over Howick Pakuranga.
Shahri Shahri played a lone hand at the top of the Howick Pakuranga order as the Ponies kept the pressure on the opener’s batting partners. Though there could have been further polish to the Takapuna performance, with a few chances going down, Finty Trussler picked up the outstanding figures of 6-22 to run through the Llama’s lower order.
The hosts made relatively simple work of chasing 115; Anna Browning set the Ponies on their way with a patient 38 off 61 balls while Trussler remained unbeaten on 23. For Howick Pakuranga, Josie Penfold bagged a couple of Ponies’ wickets, but it wasn’t enough to stop the defending champions from taking a perfect 3-0 record into 2022.
