A voracious appetite for books has led to a Cockle Bay Primary student being crowned the Top Speller in New Zealand in Year 4.
Daniel Revans, 9, was awarded his medal at the ICAS Medal Presentation Ceremony held at the University of Auckland in December.
Daniel started reading at the age of two and his mother Sam Revans says he owes his success largely to his love of books.
Mrs Revans says they have regularly gone to Howick Library together to borrow books where Daniel is usually up to his maximum borrowing limit of 35 books — often reading three books a day.
She says Daniel knows all the librarians and often takes part in the library Dare to Explore holiday programmes too.
Congratulations Daniel — what a wonderful achievement!
