Police and the family of a man last seen at Auckland Airport are appealing for information on his whereabouts.
Kory-Dean Wirihana was due to catch a flight on Friday morning.
He is understood to have checked in for the flight from Auckland Airport to Christchurch but did not board the plane.
“His family and police are seriously concerned for his welfare and want to know he’s safe,” police say.
“Kory is 36 years old, about 178cm tall and of thin build.
“If you see him, please call police via 111 and use the reference number 250418/7495.
“Information after the fact can be provided via 105.”
A family member of Wirihana’s posted on social media that he last made contact with them at 4am on Friday.
“He checked in for his flight, cleared security but never boarded it in Auckland domestic.
“He was going to Christchurch for a netball tournament but never arrived.
“His phone has been handed into lost property at Auckland domestic airport as well as his luggage and his car was stolen a few weeks ago so he has no car, no comms, and has literally disappeared from the airport.”
At about 6.30am today, April 20, the family member posted that while there have been some developments, Wirihana is still a missing person.
“We’ve seen the comments about possible sightings and want to thank everyone who’s reached out – we’ve reported all of them to the police.
“They are continuing to follow up and are doing everything they can to locate Kory.
“We also want to address the CCTV footage. Yes, the police have checked it thoroughly.
“This is an ongoing process, and while it takes time, we’re staying hopeful.
“We’re holding onto faith that we’ll have answers soon and that our brother will be home safe.”
