New Kiwis experience sailing for the first time

A local east Auckland company, Share Boating, held the first of its Open Days on Sunday December 20 partnered by the New Zealand Sailing Trust for the ethnic community.

Intended to promote sailing to local ethnic community and integrate them into one of New Zealand’s favourite leisure sports, the event was fully booked and was a great success.

Guests sailed on New Zealand’s world famous round the world yacht Steinlager 2 designed by Sir Peter Blake. Sunday’s open day was during the America’s Cup World Series Auckland Regatta on Auckland’s beautiful Waitemata harbour, a perfect fit with the legacy of Sir Peter Blake.

Share Boating has partnered with the New Zealand Sailing Trust to offer these special open days for the ethnic community. A unique selection of sailing packages and Prada Cup and America’s Cup viewing packages are available which offers the thrill of watching America’s Cup yacht racing from the water.

Wayne Huang, Share Boating founder and CEO, was as appointed Cultural Ambassador to New Zealand Sailing Trust. As Cultural Ambassador Huang will educate and promote to the ethnic community the excitement of sailing which in turn will help integrate these new kiwis into the New Zealand community.

“Our aim is to help our new New Zealander’s to have easy access and enjoy water leisure activities and understand water safety,” he said.

“We have a range of tailormade packages for New Zealand’s future business leaders to learn to live with the values of leadership, courage, teamwork and an appreciation for the environment.

“Share Boating aims to offer value add digital services to New Zealand’s yachting and marine industry and boat owners designed to encourage greater participation in this exciting leisure pass-time.”
