Favourite: Ryan Fox – Another great week for Fox in Switzerland, with a T-9 finish (see below). That’s his third top-10 in his last six Euro Tour starts.

Sleeper: Eddie Pepperell – Coming on nicely with three top-28 finishes in his last four starts. Solid since Open qualifying.

Longshot: Tom Lewis – Lewis on a nice run, nearly pulling it out in Prague and with a T-20 last week.

Fox back in world’s top 100

Beachlands’ pro golfer Ryan Fox clocked his fifth top-10 finish of the European Tour after a well-earned ninth in Switzerland at the weekend.

The placing shifts him back into the world’s top 100 — he’s is now on 100.

Fox finished with a two-under 68 to finish level with seven others on eight-under at the Crans-sur-Sierre golf club in Lens, Switzerland.

England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick won the 2017 Omega European Masters on Sunday, as Australian Scott Hend suffered his second consecutive play-off loss. Fitzpatrick hit a closing six-under 64 to end on 14 under.

Fox is 22nd in the European Tour’s points and has won close to 1 million Euros ($1.65m).

Fox told the Times: “(I’m) happy with the week, especially after having a bit of time off.

“I expected a bit of rust but played some nice golf. The course was fun to play and Crans-Montana was a spectacular place to stay.

His next tournament is the KLM Open in Holland starting today (Thursday).

Meanwhile Fox, son of All Black selector Grant Fox, enjoyed watching the televised All Blacks’ game at Yarrow Stadium on Saturday night in which Argentina was beaten by six tries to one, 39-22.

“It was a good game. The Argies played well and put us under a lot of pressure and it was good to see us respond again by scoring some good tries.”
