A small team of PTA mums, with the support of more than 60 local businesses, are determined to create excitement for the east Auckland community with the first ever Owairoa Online Auction Extravaganza.
Last year’s Owairoa school gala was another casualty of Covid.
The auction features more than 100 items and events – from a kayak, personalised mini figurine, kids activities, beauty treatments and fine dining to gym memberships, electronic goods, original artwork and even a vasectomy.
The Trade Me auction runs from September 17-26 (providing we are at level 3).
All funds raised will go towards building a new senior playground for Owairoa Primary School students.
“It’s a great way to give back to the community while indulging in a bit of retail therapy,” says PTA deputy chair Ruth McLaren. “Everybody wins!”
Most of this year’s sponsors are from local and small family-owned businesses who have donated more than $10,000 worth of items, services and experiences.
Owairoa PTA says it has been humbled by the generosity of this year’s sponsors.
“This has been a challenging time for all of us,” says Owairoa principal Alan McIntyre, “but we are excited to bring this new PTA auction fundraiser initiative to the community and hope that the outcome will reflect the positive community spirit that we certainly value and appreciate.”
