The New Zealand Police Diwali celebration that started off a few years ago, with around 40-50 guests had over 250 invitees this year with guests from the Department of Corrections, Ministry of Justice and the Police joining in to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
The talented 11-year-old Radhika Rana put on a dance performance, followed by the police team that performed the traditional Punjabi Bhangra dance with great gusto.
District Commander for Counties Manukau Jill Rogers said that for some reason every year there are cold gusts of wind and rain at the police Diwali celebration, however the feeling of warmth, accompanied by a delicious vegetarian meal had everyone in good cheer as the keepers of law celebrated diversity.
