Last week, Northern Arizona freshman Theo Quax, 19, ran 3:39.94 for 1500m at the Bryan Clay meet in California.

That’s a huge improvement from his 3:47.54 personal best, which he ran last year in HS.
Quax is the son of the 1976 Olympic 5000 silver medallist, the late Dick Quax.
He also had a seat on Auckland Council.

“So we thought it would be fun to compare the families. The comparisons are kind of scary. Dick Quax ran 3:36.7h and 13:12 for 1500 and 5000 and Matt Centrowitz ran 3:36.70 and 13:12. In terms of the younger generation, Matthew Centrowitz’s 5000 pb at age 19 was 13:49 – which is exactly what Theo Quax ran earlier this year.”
