In the wake of the Christchurch shootings, students at Pakuranga College decided to do what they could to show their support to the families of the victims.
The school’s student Cultural Council organised a mufti day on Wednesday March 27, with all proceeds going to Red Cross to support their ongoing work with those affected by the tragedy. The theme of the day was ‘#weareone’, and students and staff were encouraged to wear cultural dress.
“We are proud of our cultural diversity at Pakuranga College” said Cultural Council chairperson, Karishma Mogrelia (Year 13). “We’re really happy that we were able to raise dollars to help support the victims’ families and the Muslim community in Christchurch.”
