An east Auckland school principal has been quick to contact local parents impacted by the unexpected liquidation of Actura Australia Pty Ltd, which offered trips to NASA in the United States.
As the Times has reported today, June 15, several east Auckland schools and numerous local families have been caught up in the distressing situation.
In an email to parents yesterday, Actura Australia Pty Ltd chief executive officer Charles Chung said: “It is with regret and sadness that I must advise that Actura Australia Pty Ltd has with immediate effect gone into liquidation, today 14th June 2024.”
Somerville Intermediate School principal Yolande Franke has today emailed impacted parents of her school to say she was shocked to read the email notification that Actura Australia has gone into liquidation and its Space Camp programme has been cancelled.
“I understand that you have also received an email containing the same news,” she told parents.
“This devastating news has come without any warning and it will take some time to process.
“However, please be assured that we will do whatever we can to support you as parents and the children, who will be feeling this deeply.
“We will meet with the students on Monday in the hope that sharing will help with processing their feelings.”
Franke told the parents that as an immediate measure she’s seeking advice on the situation.
“There are several schools that are impacted and there may be actions that can be taken.
“The advice in the email is that those who have paid by credit card should contact their bank.
“If you have paid via credit card you may be able to get the full amount refunded as there is a clause about refunds for services not delivered.”
