A teen is believed to have almost lost part of his arm after an accident saw him plummet 30m onto mudflats below Sandspit Road in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police still don’t have full details of the incident which saw a local 18-year-old male fall down the steep section of hill to the Shelly Park beach between 1.30am and 2.30am.
Sergeant Brett Meale said police notes say the teen almost severed his hand in the fall. No further information was available.
“The Eagle helicopter located him on the mudflats below and police gave him first aid until the ambos arrived,” Sgt Meale said.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called in as the terrain was too steep to safely negotiate a rescue.
The teen was choppered to hospital.
