Wheels in motion ahead of Red Nose Day

The first red noses are hitting the roads around New Zealand this week as Cure Kids put the wheels in motion to launch the 2017 Red Nose Day Fundraising Campaign.

Fastway Couriers New Zealand has partnered with the children’s charity to help deliver thousands of red noses across the country.

Fastway General Manager Mark Little says the leading courier company is pleased to support Cure Kids by delivering all the merchandise free of charge.

“We will be delivering about 200,000 pieces of merchandise for their annual Red Nose Day appeal.”

For Mr Little, supporting Cure Kids is close to his heart and he has a personal connection to

New Zealand’s leading child health research charity, that helps with research funding into a range of illnesses and serious conditions effecting Kiwi kids.

“My daughter suffered from a rare form of cancer and is now thankfully in full remission. I know how hard and challenging it is for parents and their sick children. It’s great to be able to get behind an organisation that is funding research to help improve outcomes for kids like my daughter.”

Cure Kids Ambassadors, hand delivered the first shipment of red noses to the Fastway Courier Depot.

Lukas (12) who lives with Cerebal Palsy, Hunter (9) who lives with type-1 diabetes and George (10) who lives with ADHD turned up with red noses to help drive the fundraising campaign and raise awareness.

“It’s really special to spend time with the Cure Kids Ambassadors and hear their stories,” said Mr Little.

Cure Kids Chief Executive, Frances Benge, says that the support of Fastway Couriers was a vital part of the campaign’s success.

“We are so grateful for the support of the team at Fastway Couriers this Red Nose Day. It’s a huge job getting all our merchandise out to the hundreds of schools, businesses and individuals that fundraise for us all over New Zealand. This support helps reduce our overall campaign costs which ultimately allows us to fund more important research to improve health outcomes for Kiwi kids.

“In addition, the team are so enthusiastic about the campaign and really get into the spirit of Red Nose Day and what it means for the health and well-being of New Zealand children,” said Frances Benge.

“We rely on the support of businesses like Fastway Couriers to help us raise awareness and collect donations so all our kids can have the happy and healthy childhood they deserve.”

Fastway Couriers Chief Executive, Scott Jenyns says over 200,000 pieces of merchandise including red noses, wristbands, pins, slap bands and car noses will be distributed to over 1000 retailers, businesses, schools and community groups.

“Our Fastway Courier Staff are all getting behind Red Nose Day and you can expect to see all our vans and trucks wearing red noses as we do our best to get the message out there and raise awareness for Red Nose Day.”

This year Cure Kids is encouraging businesses to donate through a “Toss your Boss” Fundraising Campaign.

“This gives our regional businesses motivation to throw their boss off the sky tower and more of a reason to get behind the fundraising drive. We have set a goal of $5000 for each office and we are encouraging our whole company to support this fundraising promotion.

“Over the next few weeks, we will be rolling out fundraising activities throughout the Fastway network to encourage donations and raise awareness for Cure Kids. We are very passionate about getting behind this great cause.”

The Red Nose Day appeal starts on the 1st of September and runs throughout the month, with Red Nose Day falling on Friday the 29th of September.
