Have you witnessed a Taser demonstration?

Do you have what it takes to become a police officer? Would you like to see what and an Armed Offender Squad member dressed in gear looks like?

Botany Town Centre will be swarming with police, armed offenders squad members, ambulances and fire trucks in a bid to help the community engage with those who tirelessly keep them safe.

On Saturday, April 1 from 10am -2pm Counties Manukau Police and Botany Town Centre are hosting Everyday Heroes, an annual community event that will allow the community to get up-close and personal with emergency services and their wonderful volunteers.

The Everyday Heroes event celebrates not just the Police, Fire Service and St John but also other service organisations, groups and volunteers who make the community safe for us, every day.

This free event will showcase show-stopping displays and the good work that the Police do. The Police Operations team will also be doing a Taser demonstration, amongst other displays.

Counties Manukau top Detectives have created a mock crime scene to show you what techniques they use when they attend serious crime incidents – it is an access all areas event.

Customs, Crimestoppers, Coastguards and Selecta DNA will also be there to share stories about synthetic DNA based crime prevention initiative.

 

  • Driveway Safety: Safety NZ will demonstrate the importance of driveway safety and show how difficult it can be to see a small child in a driveway.
  • Police dog display: The popular Police dogs will give a 45-minute demonstration of how they assist frontline Police officers in an armed offender’s scenario.
  • Throughout the day: See Police officers take on the Police Competency Test (physical test).  Customers will be given a chance to test their skills in push-ups or jump tests.
  • Main stage in town square: A number of local acts will perform on stage throughout the day.
