“Unity is strength. Where there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved,” Mattie Stepanek once said.

Youth Project NZ is a charitable trust, based in east and south Auckland, whose philosophy lies in growing community connections and in the enhancement of local youth.

Youth Project NZ has just formed its own Youth Board, operating alongside the board of trustees which will enrich the governance structure, spur innovation, and strengthen Youth Project NZ’s capacity to effectively serve young people.

The Youth Board consists of motivated, empowered, and like-minded rangatahi who work cooperatively to make their collective visions for the community become vibrant realities with the support of the community.

Through various activities, the Youth Board will aim to raise awareness of a variety of concepts such as encouraging environmental sustainability to life-long lessons with intentions of leaving a lasting impact on young minds.

Youth Project NZ plays an important role as it shapes a future generation of compassionate citizens who go on to make a difference in the world!

Through engagement in diverse initiatives such as the upcoming service and volunteer clean-up event at Lloyd Elsmore Park from 1.30pm-3.30pm on June 22 the Youth Board is able to spread awareness about various aspects which enrich the lives of the younger audience and will evoke a sense of belonging to their communities.

Look out for posters and social media posts for further details of the clean-up.

As a Youth Board, we are so excited to bring our ideas to life and make a positive change in our community.

If you are interested in joining our Youth Board and are in school years 9-13 please email claire@youthprojectnz.org or go online to www.youthprojectnz.org.

People who want to take part in the clean-up on June 22 can meet by the playground near Lloyd Elsmore Park Pool and Leisure Centre.
