My name is Judith Grant and I’m standing for the Howick Local Board in the Botany subdivision, along with the #weknowbotany team.

I have lived locally for over six decades, love our local community, and have seen great changes over my time of growing up and raising a family here.

I have over 30 years’ experience in the corporate business world and as an entrepreneur, starting and operating two successful businesses.

I have served on our local resident’s group as committee member and president.

Our Flat Bush and Ormiston area has experienced rapid growth over the past 10 years, and with a population of over 67,000, many of whom are in high-density housing, it is vital to complete the planned Ormiston Library and Community Centre.

People need local places to gather to pursue their interests, set up clubs and organisations, and have a place to enjoy events and activities.

There’s plenty of research to show that young people who are involved with sports and hobbies are far more engaged in every aspect of their lives, so I will listen to youth and what matters to them, advocating on their behalf.

Our elderly should have accessible and safe facilities to meet — places that meet their needs for gathering, socialising and community events.

My husband and I have a large family of four children and 14 grandchildren.

We have strong family values of commitment, respect, honesty, integrity and a sense of fun and humour with each other and I will bring those traits to my role on the Howick Local Board and the community.

Let us celebrate the Botany, Flat Bush, and Ormiston areas’ diversity and multicultural community.

Our #weknowbotany team reflects that diversity and we will proudly represent you and let your voice be heard. We will provide community solutions to community issues.
